Hapkido is a self defence art, a way of learning to fight, but only to defend yourself. It is a complete means of self defence and incorporates many techniques that allow self defence with complete control of the opponent.

Q: What is Hap Ki Do?

A: Hapkido is a unique Korean Martial Art. It is not a sport. Traditional Hapkido focuses on self defence through physical, mental and spiritual improvement, as well as fighting techniques.

Do means way or art.

Yielding a literal translation of "joining-energy-way".

It is most often translated as "the way of coordinating energy", "the way of coordinated power" or "the way of harmony".
